Jim, we have dealt with the data issue in NC, over the GPS locations of our farms, and I know some have been gullible enough to allow their waste records to be transported off the farm to Raleigh. I made it a point to ask in the outset of this permitting process, whether the records we keep are public or private.
The answer was private. While the permitting agency may send inspectors and examine our records, which must be kept on the farm, they may not remove them...unless you are dumb enough to let them.
I don't consider that we have anything to hide, but I am very adamant about the public/private divide.
