Wouldn't want to be Draghi bout now..

Of course, right now the Greek financial minister is seeking more funding...

What's Draghi going to do...? ? ?

Throw good money after bad ? ? ?

Greeks maybe thinking a better deal is with Putin and that "Turkish Stream pipeline" gas hub idea of his...ja.

Our US nightcrawler appears to like this "Greek tragedy"-

No more letting those Greeks vote- (lol)

Conclusion :  Olympic games of theirs are underway...Expect GRAINS, OIL, and GOLD to bump down Monday-

Re: Votes are "IN"

Theoretically with the Greeks out of the Euro, shouldn`t that make the Euro stronger and the dollar weaker in the process?   Or maybe it`s a deal like in this country where banks (in Greece`s case Germany) would rather string a insolvent business along to avoid putting "red ink" on the books.   oh I supose it`ll be somehow spun to be negative for the grains.

Re: Votes are "IN"

The interconnectednss of world currencies, especially in the stability/ instanility of the overall world economy, is very worrisome. I don't pretend to comprehend all the intricacies...I just know one tumble big enough has the potential to pull us all down, perhaps under.

The Greeks are suffering from dome sort of hubris, or figure fears of the whole house of cards collapsing across the globe will make everyone fearful enough to bail them out in the style to which they have become accustomed. We all just need to put in a little more effort, so they can put in sbsolutely none, in solving this mess.

Every time I read some crap about how Europeans have this or that social service, and months of vacation each year...and, OH! If only we stupid, overworking Americans would relax and follow suit, it woukd solve all our problems, if only we were more civilized, I want to puke...austerity is a rough part of town, and nobody wants to go there.

Re: Votes are "IN"

Kay, as I understand it the bailout proposed wouldn`t have worked anyway, the Greeks are just too far underwater.  Here is John Perkins `Confessions of an Economic Hitman` that is saying what is going on with Greece.

http://www.sott.net/article/298645-An-Economic-Hit-Man-speaks-out-John-Perkins-on-how-Greece-has-fal...

i think Greece is in for hell to pay regardless, but why strip what`s left of your country to just buy a few extra more days and end up with the same result anyway?   Economic "Hitmen" loan sharks really, indebted the country to the point that they owe their souls to the company store.  Politicians appeased the Greek people with entitlements and bennefits galore, but now it`s payday.

I think voting "Oxi" was smart, it worked for Iceland, now they have gotten their house in order.

I know reneging on debts doesn`t fit with our Lone Ranger/Superman ideals, but these countries have been screwed over.  See now this is the danger of these runaway entitlements, without the US currency reserve status, we`d be in worse shoes than Greece.  They seem to be moving hard left politically and when our "payday" comes, the US will also move hard left on the same trajectory as the last two presidential elections.

This "charity gig" is screeching to a halt as those ATM machines are empty, ja...

The Greeks, whilst swinging from the chandeliers yesterday; today wake up to one Mc-size hangover....

Re: Votes are "IN"

Smiley Happy   Hey Bruce, the thing with Paul Krugman is he supported NAFTA and all the entitlement programs that have gotten us in about the same spot as Greece.   Greece is in for a world of hurt, they are out of money, pharmacies won`t have medication, super market shelves will be empty, no money in the ATM and probably crimes will increase.  They are going to have to pull together like never before and overcome the urge of certain countries that offer them a "life line".

Germany probably figures they can`t let them off the hook or Spain and Portugal will be in line saying "write off our debt too and spot us some cash `til next pay day".  Somewhere down the line we all have to realize that Santa Claus is a myth.

Re: Votes are "IN"

I have a hard time saying I feel too sorry fir people who have overspent their means, whether individually or collectively.

I think they have counted on the fear of a do ino effect...and, isn't the Fed overcommited on unfunded obligations at least as bad or worse than the Greeks are?
