Re: Votes are "IN"

Don`t feel too sorry for the banksters either because they were getting 15% on Greek bonds, we`ve all known since 2008 that Greece has been one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.  At some point the "drug dealer" has to assume some responsibilty for the "junkee" too.  15% Greek return, everybody knows that`s risky...this country is risky and we only pay 1.5%.

But imagine this (not too hard) every election I vote for the most fiscally prudent candidate running some of them win Terry Branstad, Steve King Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley And some of them lose John McCain, Mitt Romney, Ross Perot ect.....But one day the chickens will come home to roost...I didn`t vote for all this $18 Trillion national debt, I didn`t want it, I voted against it every chance I got.  Well, one day the national debt will be $30 Trillion and the Fed will run out of rabbits to pull out of hats and no one will buy our debt.

Well what then?  "The Powers that Be" will tax income 70% tax estates at 90% jack property tax up to $200/acre to just keep the lights on at the white house.  Would that be fair to essentially steal all of our wealth just to kick the can down the road a few more extra days?   I don`t think it is, I`ve voted all I could do against these exessive entitlements, people like me shouldn`t be held responsible for this.  The banksters that funded this unsustainable mess knew they were serving booze to a alcoholic that already had a blood alcohol 10 times over the limit.  I can`t ask the Greek people to "take their medicine" when our own darned country isn`t all that far behind.

Re: Votes are "IN"

Looking over  Wall Street Journal numbers those socialistic countries of Norway , Sweden, Denmark , Finland seem to be setting in pretty good shape with Norway having a larger surplus in their coffers than Saudi Arabia - I f you want  debt to GDP numbers with a red light include Japan with 237 ---

Re: Votes are "IN"

Hey K-289, I`m part Norwegian and we keep up with the goings on of some very "removed" cousins in Norway.  there is actually a group coming to visit in a couple days, but with that North Sea oil Norway can actually make socialism work.  They have a very unique situation over there, everyone is doing extremely well, no one over works, it`s just a matter of divying up that NorthSea oil money, the one relation says just by being in the Army over there he`ll make $100,000/yr.  I don`t think it`s the place to go if you want to be super rich, but if you`re satisfied living in a upper middle class it does work with the oil money.  I guess it`s probably because there isn`t any sheiks hoarding the oil money and the Norwegian people aren`t crazy greedy.

Re: Votes are "IN"

I don`t know what you mean Bruce, I said then that i thought the Greeks should vote "Oxi".  If you mean me being concerned about the federal debt, not to mention the $100 Trillion in unfunded obligations that this country has.  That is a concern because you have to understand, this living beyond our means is a "one shot deal" there isn`t any do overs.  We got half the country not paying federal income tax, hooked on entitlements and voting liberal...there is a end to it at some point.

I don`t know the magic number if the national debt is $18 Trillion or if we can kick the can down the road to $30 Trillion or more, it does end.  Mathematically $100 Trillion in unfunded obligations is 6 X our GDP that amount of money isn`t in exisistance, maybe if our politicans start pooping out bricks made of solid gold it will work, but nothing short of that will work.

It would be better if we been fiscally restrained to begin with and not have to find out what the magic debt number is when everything falls in a heap, apparently Greece`s number was $300 Billion.

Re: Votes are "IN"

You mention half not paying federal income taxes and the entitlement mentality. I worry that we have passed the tipping point, when it comes to voting...what percentage of the electorate has no skin in the game of paying our way, really?

The original framers granted the vite to freeholders...that is, people eho actually owned land, so had something to lose. I think they had it right.

Re: Votes are "IN"

Of course socialism works, if everyone has a guaranteed living off the strength of a vast natural asset, and the worth is shared. You essentially have a nation of trust fund babies.

I watch the timber, ag products, mineral, etc., leaving our region on the Southeast US, and not much is left there to show for it. It is more a rape of the land, then our young people mostly have to follow the money, too.

Our last employee was fired on a Friday, we got a call from Social Services on Monday. He didn't even bother to look for work. What does that say to you?

Re: Votes are "IN"

I have posted this before on the "skid row page" and the liberals went nuts.  But, with half the country not paying income taxes, I proposed that unless someone can take their 1040 tax form to the polling place and prove that they paid in at least $50 above what the government gave them in "earned income credit" they should NOT be allowed to vote....Fifty lousy bucks! that is all that I am asking that they have in skin in the game before they go into the voting booth and vote for politicians that will pick my pocket, i`m not asking for all that much.

But, most politicians especially from a certain party would never go for that.  Instead them danged fools want to make voting easier! You don`t have to show your ID (you don`t have to prove who you are to vote, when you couldn`t even cash a check...and that`s who we allow to select leaders...go figure)  they want "drive through" voting...get a danged Big Mac and happy Meal with your ETB card while voting for politicians that will pick my pocket and indebt our children and grandchildren...*no I don`t see a problem with that.

Then they get mad at Donald Trump that tells the truth and doesn`t want to drag in 20 million more hardup clowns and give them all a certain party`s voting card.

Re: Votes are "IN"

Seems Ironic that the "green" and healthy norwegien economy is made possible by "north sea oil"...... Reminds me of the congressmen who want to go after illegal aliens but don't want to loose their housekeepers...

It really is important to step back and see the whole picture.
