Weekend puzzle--What is it?

If you dug this out of your return elevator on a JD S670.  It had stopped the elevator.

Give it a try,  where did it come from and what is it????

Re: Weekend puzzle--What is it?

Multiple guess question?

1)  extra piece .manufacturer spot welded into machine designed to come loose and drive you wild.

2)  typical JD, put tin or plastic where a real piece of iron should be.

3) might check top end of elevator for a missing bit.

4) could have come as far away as the head.

5) fire up the ol girl and go 100 feet down row look for trail of grain then look up from there. If no trail see answer # 1.

Don't worry the rest of it'll show up in a little bit.

Get a Case IH, it'd just pitched it out the back and you'd still be running. Red piecies are easier to see in the field a year to five later.

Re: Weekend puzzle--What is it?

Part of the combine`s appendix, it`s purpose is to limit capacity, without it you`ll drive .1 mph faster  🙂  As long as you don`t see corn on the ground when shinning the flashlight on the return round, you`re good.  Maybe a access door from the innards?    If that stopped your elevator, you need to tighten the slip clutch   🙂

Clues ............. no rust.............. soft or light enough to puncture ...........

Green paint on one side and not the other

Green paint is blotchy and looks like overspray.........

and the clipped corner...........

I had a piece that looked a lot like that only bigger come out of my galvanized  grinder and get caught in the elevator. Never did figure out where it came from and still workin fine

Part of the cover in front of the feeder house chain so it doesn't throw beans out the front when the chain comes around.
