Re: What am I missing NC Illinois $14,000+ / a

Yes Kay, what really needs brought up is on a 80 that pays $2,000 land tax, in my school district 53% or over $1,000 goes to the local school...even if that 80 is owned by a old widow living 500 miles away that never had children, she is funding the school.  As I told those that hate farmers on the Forum page "I`m not not not complaining...just stating the facts'.

I cannot remember eho explained this concept to me, but I heard it years ago. In the case of school taxes, which virtually all of us benefitted from as public school students, it is assumed that every citizen benefits not onky from his or her own education or the education of their offspring.

Clearly, there will always be some childless people, whether by chance or by choice. Still, they pay a part of ensuring that there is an educated cituzenry. This may seem a bit of a stretch today, but we still need employees to turn up with a basic set of dkills in reading, writing, mathematics. In some places, at least to a limited extent, that mat still occur.

My wifes uncle served in Germany during the bifg war. At one point in his life he told his brother, my father in law. that he bought 3 half sections in one year in the swea city to armstrong area. That was when land in Iowa was around the $700 per acre mark.  He said that inflation will take hold in america just like it did in Germany in years past.  The land went to over $1000 per acre before the ink was dry and the land is still held in the family today.
