What is the value of old growth walnut trees?

Estimating main tree trunks at 30 foot tall and at least 3 foot in diameter. An acquaintemce just brought a property with walnut trees and pecan trees.

One site says Walnut is $2/bft  Here`s the site and a site to calculate board feet.  30x3 logs would be 1900 board feet X $2 $3800 per log

Really depends on variables. In Iowa you can call the district forester and he will do a sight visit. Gives you lots of info all for free.

Last summer I was delivering Hickory to a local log yard they had a walnut log they had $23000 for. They were paying $15 per board foot for top of the line logs.

Walnut is pricey.  I would suggest youru friend retain a consulting forester to represent his interests.
