Re: What`s the plan for next year?
SW, those discs and cultivators in Iowa were not running to control weeds, per se. They have a two-fold challenge, white mold in soybeans in no-till and solid stands, and second, cold spring which is not good at warming early and results in poor germination and emergence in corn. To say those discs are a sign that no-till and chemicals is bad and not working is not entirely accurate.

Re: What`s the plan for next year?
smokey -- another aspect you present... notil presents a new environment so now we deal with fungus and disease problems ..... the new technology leads to new problems disease wise as well as weed adaptations. Steel hopefully will break some cycles...
Because the weeds and disease will adapt quicker than our technology will be allowed to adapt.

Re: What`s the plan for next year?
Perhaps so, SW. In the case of northern states, the problems were already there and no-till merely exposed them and we discovered how difficult it is to control without cultivating.
