Re: You Iowa Farmers Should be Ashamed !
It would be a better use of the taxpayer's money to pay whatever it takes to bid sensitive land into a CRP-like program rather than spend money to subsidize insurance to get it into production.
That would raise grain prices and make prime land more valuable, btw.
Also, don't forget that the sportsmen's lobby was a part of the unholy alliance that got farm bills passed in recent years.
Although now that everybody in farming is rich and much too large for their britches, they don't need no steenkin' allies.
I hope I'm around when the begging cup comes back out in a few years.

Also key in that alliance were legislators from urban states that benefitted from nutrition programs.
Oops.
It probably comes down to an ethanol Hail Mary that is likely to fall harmlessly in the end zone.
There was one brief and shining moment when even big oil was on "ag's" side because they just wanted the hell away from their MTBE problem.
That has passed.

Re: You Iowa Farmers Should be Ashamed !
Hardnox, as I see all the new paint, mammoth farm shops and storage sheds, million dollar grain storage facilities going up I think the same thing. Not to mention marginal ground at 6k an acre, good ground in the 9k range. This time of our lives will make or break families for generations to come.

Hold it down ---------- This is MSN speaking ----------------- "The voice of the ruling class"
Ecin------ It was a bad statement, they shouldn't have uttered those words. The ultimate curse ------- the word, offender.
(89 it was a low blow from the north)
But you just admited you read MSN ------------- The Propaganda branch of the publicly insane.
This worries me!!!!!!
When you get back from thumping 89, you'll feel better.

Nox ------ this is the usa, we can pay for grass programs to keep land idle, and crop insurance to get idle ground planted, ---- at the same time as long as we don't give any money to a rich person directly. 🙂
