Re: You Iowa Farmers Should be Ashamed !

I just think its funny that they have to rely on the negative connotations of rape to get there point across. Rather than argue an argument they would rather rely on imagery that most certainly triggers their desired response, though with other content.

Anyways, hope that makes sense. I'm running the dryer so that's my focus

Re: You Iowa Farmers Should be Ashamed !

Sorry for the little flare up I just had - that was not good talk on my part  - But 89's post got my hackels up -

Yes sw - I was bad and read MSN - lol Thought I would throw it out there and pull a few Iowa chains -- just in fun - I would say that was  8 on the Slam scale - for them .

Wind - Thanks for posting that up -

BTW I looked on the weather channel alittle bit ago to find what they ran last night - Got a dang phone call and missed it last night - and now can't find it .

Almost  all --have a good day

Re: You Iowa Farmers Should be Ashamed !

Oh, come on, you guys, do you think calling names and getting your dander up solves anything?  Good grief.  It was a bad piece of journalism.  They tricked the one farmer into talking which he later recanted.  They took facts out of context and distorted them.  Let's not jump on each other for something none of us did.

ECIN: I know you just did a copy and paste.

Kind of like that article on eating road kill done by a PETA person I put up a few days ago.

The inaccuracies and down right lies in that article should get the author 16 lashes with a cane like in Singapore for wrong doing.

I went on a raod trip with my son to look at a farm just a mile over the Missouri line from that exact area in the "news piece" this morning. Out of state buyer just gave an obscene amount for this just coming out of CRP and pasture farm. Is going to have someone farm the bejesus out of it.

Someone will do it, it will happen, just have to decide if it is lucrative enough.

Ethanol is just a scape goat here.

Almost all of southern Iowa and Northern Missouri has been repeatedly raped..This is by no means the first.

1) during WW1 many farms were moldboard plowed to "feed the troops". And capitalize on

    higher prices (no ethanol)

2)The thirties they were replowed to try to generate income to pay bills. Many still lost the farm.

    (no ethanol)

3) The mid 50's there was a farm recession, many plowed it up again ...same song, same result.

The "soil bank" was invented for this episode. (no ethanol)

4) The seventies came along Russia short cropped it and showed up and  bought  all the exportable crops. "We need to feed the World" was the battle cry. By then the 806, 4020,the XT190, and 7000 planter were available to really do the job right.

Guess what???? NO ethanol but CRP was invented

5)  Now. It is NOT ethanol, it is severe weather issues around the globe creating $7 corn that has a long tail that is getting those same acres raped for at least the 5th time.

It is not just a one year rape either usually runs for 5 years straight and the 3rd year is when the eroision really starts.

Many of these acres are junk after 20 to 25 years of pure mismanagement.

We have ethanol and and a decent crop AND $4 corn (less is some areas) It is NOT ETHANOL.

Did they mention that corn in that area winds up in Hog feed at the old PSF feed mills? Maybe just a smidgin over at Ray J's corn sweetener plant. Guess what NOT Ethanol.

Re: You Iowa Farmers Should be Ashamed !

How many bu do we use just to satisfy the oxygenate requirement. That use will always be there. However Iagree the golden age of corn ethanol is winding down
