Penetrating oil???

I've always been a bit suspect of claims of the success of penetrating oil helping release rusted parts. Yesterday, I had to pull a stuck cleaning fan pulley off a splined shaft and used something I had called john deere multilube(didn't really want to heat this pulley). Probably not the greates, but thats what I had.I have used straight diesel fuel with ok results. Is there a product that anyone thinks is really the "real deal" when it comes to penetrating  frozen parts?

There may be better but I think silikroil is the best i've found.

I think penetrating oil is like seed corn.  It's all about branding and only generally about performance.  In any event, here is a discussion about preventing rust on guns.

Some swear by PB Blaster, Kroil, Sea Foam Deep Creep and LPS-1.  And more.  And some swear by their own home-brewed penetrant.

   PB parts blaster is as good as I've found.  BTW most of my tillage tools sit out year round.

They talk about Hagen's brew on ag talk. Sounds like it works better that most.   jps

We use Kroil at work.  I "borrowed" a little and decided it wasn't any better than PB Blaster which is readily available retail in this area.  Kroil is only available online or from a distributor.  Hagen's brew is 50% ATF and 50% acetone.  I've tried it and it also works pretty good.  The only problem is application.   They eliminated brittle lacquer structural testing at work, so got rid of  the stainless steel,  hand-held solvant sprayers.   Somewhere I've got one that is hiding and it would be ideal.

I wonder if anyone has tried KB-88 by LPS, which is supposed to test very well based on their web site?

We've yet to find any commercial product any better than PB Blaster.  I think the 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone probably works best of all but it's more difficult to handle because it doesn't come in a pressurized can.  You need to find just the right squirt can to put it in.

I have tried them all and JB80 is by far the best if the best. Hard to find. I can only get it at Menard,s. Made by Justice Brothers.
