Steel Arch Buildings

Need basic machinery storage. The steel arch buildings are very economical to purchase and erect. What are some of the pros and cons of these?

Re: Steel Arch Buildings

Some of the newer ones look awfully cheap. Cheaply built that is.

Re: Steel Arch Buildings

If you are looking at saving money, did you consider one of those hoop-type buildings?   I know a guy who had one up for well over 10 years no, no tears in the fabric yet, and the entire building is translucent, meaning that inside on a sunny day, it is like being ouside on a cloudy day.   It just does not have that 'driving into a tunnel' effect that steel buildings do, even with skylights.

Re: Steel Arch Buildings

May be hard to install side doors

May be hard to finish the inside, such as adding shop space, due to the arch/curve

Have to surface mount any utilities

Check snow and wind loads.  They may be good if the building is not too large

There are several threads on this topic if you use your search engine.  Here is one that has some good points.

Re: Steel Arch Buildings

The deeply coriagated single sheet design has a reputafion for failure with snow.  My 19559 Martin had trouble with rust and birds nesting.  Doors are an issue.
