Who makes a good AC/DC stick welder?
What model do you recommend? My dad has a Century with a freq box. Its pretty easy to strike an arc with it and it has infinate amperage control. It has 100% duty cycle to a pretty high amperage. I don't think they make it any more.

Anything that says Miller or Lincoln on the side is a good welder, I think the best stick welders are an old Lincoln, no cooling fan or circuitry to mess with just set heat & melt rod.

How about if I wanted the option of putting a tig torch on it to weld thinner stainless?

We've had very good luck with our Miller Thunderbold welders. Dad bought his used & I bought mine new. We've never had a problem with either one.
