Winter shop projects

Just curious: What shop projects are you working on this winter to stay in the shop and not out in the cold and snow?

Building a grass/ brush fire truck for the local volunteer department, starting with a bare F450 chassis, also re-engineering a rock-o-matic rock picker, nice & warm inside.

Trying to get a newly built shop finished so can do some winter projects.

Same deal here, except old building being updated, some new concrete with PEX in the floor for a solar water heating system that may or may not work, nothing is straight, level or plumb, so each piece is cut to fit.  New wire, some insulation.  Long process, but think it will be nice when we get it done...if they are ever really done.

   Nothing really.  We are too busy anyway fighting the snow and ice and water and tending the cattle.  I go over the planter when I'm done with it while things are fresh on my mind.  Just put the seed boxes on it and it's ready to go.  We are mostly no till around here so the planter and a tractor to pull it is about all their is to be concerned about.

Just started building a bi-fold door to replace some old sliders. 28'W X 17'H.

Are you building it with Aluminum..and are you using hydraulics to raise it?

No aluminum. All steel and no hydraulics.

A one piece design with hydraulic cylinders has the benefit of more height when open but it's when you open it that bothers me a little. To open it in the the winter with a snowdrift in the way would mean scooping the snow first. and making sure nothing is parked close by. And  I plan on keeping the tractor and bucket inside the shop. So therefor I like the bi-fold because when you open it the bottom goes straight up from the floor.
