agonizingly slow refresh rate and other issues
Perhaps it is the internet provider slowing down traffic to justify new revenue streams with the rescinding of net neutrality. If not, it takes a huge amount of time for the web pages to load and display. I understand your advertiser's need to get facetime with readers and justify spending the dollars. But this is becoming very distracting and annoying, having the screen jump around as ads block the view, only to readjust when scrolling. My opinion of an effective ad is one that is present, yet not "in your face." I simply lessen my time with web sites who are extremely intrusive. You want me to continue viewing? Make a change. My greatest pet peeve is while using my smartphone in the field, and 75-90% of the screen is blocked by ads. Small changes will greatly enhance my patronage here.
