OK   Ken......You of all people should know that JD invented the plough [ I believe thats the way they spelled it back in the day ] lol   Just curious.....do you remember the last time you used one ???? Thought you mentioned you were no-till or mimimum till a time or two.

I still use one up here on hay sod going back to corn and CC acres. Looking for 6 bt. on land plow......getting too old to take dual off !!!  A man has got to realize his limitations !!!

BTW...how's school going ??? Learning anything new ???  John

Re: 2800 JD Variable plow [14" to 22" ]

Sorry JCC -- you have known me for a good while and know that there is times i just can't help myself -- lol

I just went in and asked the little lady when the last time was ? she said , boy i don't remeber either but it's been along time , she did alot of the plowing back then , we had 2  6-18's 720's , boy I don't miss doing that job ! But unstand your deal to , even i have thought about turning some over the past few years- B-I-L has a 7- 18's  on land -- also a 720 , said to come over and get if i want .

Yes -- school was pretty good this year , I had to cut yesterday REAL short , Man i don't know wht happened but got sicker than a dog up there ,felt great when I left a 6:30 -- that's in the morning , I know you guys up North don't get up till noon , lol , but feel alot better this morning .

There was a couple of classes that was pretty dang good , will try and put something together and post it up here .

Are you in the heavy snow band ? i talked  to Larrydc yesterday and it sounds bad for him ! Be safe !

Re: 2800 JD Variable plow [14" to 22" ]

Left the yard at 4:00 AM this morn driving threw 4" of the white stuff [that would be SNOW , not fog]. The good side.....fairly warm...not much wind.

Back on topic : Have been plowing the last few years with my 4 18" 720 behind the neighbors 826 IH. Cutting back on acres some , so may just keep on that way unless at 6 bt. variable on-land gets dropped off by mistake !!!

Looking forward to your summation of the schooling !!!! You said a mouth-full in apost I saw somewhere.....never too old to learn !!

Re: 2800 JD Variable plow [14" to 22" ]

I think 1984 was the last time I plowed.  But I just bought a set of MF 880 5-16's.  I can't see the money they want for vertical till tools that won't even take out weeds.  Today's corn stalks are so tuff I decided to try plowing again.  I saw a set of Deere 2600 4-16's sell at auction for $1450 this week.  5 years ago they would have maybe brought $500.

I was telling a younger guy just starting how we had a good 20 year run with no till but now with so many RU resistant weeds it looks like back to working ground again, at least on some fields.
