UTV Advice?

We are looking to upgrade from an ATV to a UTV to help us work around the farm. We've never owned one before so does anyone have suggestiosn or advice? What kinds of questions should I be asking when I go to the dealership? Anything will help, thanks!

Re: UTV Advice?

Weight capacity, what the wheel spacing is if you are going to run down in between row crops.Don't get one with-out fuel injection. I have had two Polaris Rangers, did a lot of research but what it came down to was power, capacity, reliability. The only problem with the Rangers is if you want to go down between rows you have to put wheel spacers on. The Ranger has 1200lbs. bed capacity. One of the highest in it's class. Love it.

How do you know which utv is more reliable? Have you owned anything besides a ranger to compare it to anything? Is a ranger less maintenance? Or longer service intervals? Is it easy to service on your own?

Re: UTV Advice?

I had a yamaha Rhino. I like the Ranger due to it having greasless joints, air filter is very easy to get at and servicing it you can do in your driveway or shop. Oil filter is very easy to get at. Everyone makes a good unit. It just depends on how hard your going to use it and what features you want. For me the Ranger has the weight capacity, fuel injection, nice ride, and easy of maintanence. The Rhino had less bed capacity, and I got alot of belt slip when it got wet. Plus it is alot more narrow in the cab. I can ride three in the Ranger and be comfortable. I use mine both for the farm and my fire buisness I own. We put 100 gallons of water in the bed plus pump and hose and three guys and we haven't had any problems. last one I sold had 700 hrs on it with no shop time, The new one has 300 on it already and no shop time.
