Automatic Wagon Hitch

Jump to solution

I still use gravity wagons for hauling in corn and one of the nuisances is getting on and off to hitch them.  Sliding tongues help but it still takes time and effort.

Do any of you have any experience with automatic wagon hitches?

Here are two examples I've found.  I'ld like to hear of any more.

Bergman Agri-speed hitch

I have a neighbor that has the one in your top link. He loves it. He said the only draw back was cost.

I have used the Agri Speed hitches for at least 15 years and love them. They just flat work every time. My wagons go up to about 600 bu.  I only wish they had a quick connect for lights on the wagon.

I used to have something similar to the ergohitch on the back of an old self propelled corn chopper. When I used silage wagons, you could leave the hydrostatic in a slow reverse and jump off and hold the tongue up while the chopper backed into it. Run back up and go forward before it jack knifed Smiley Wink Pulled a rope when you wanted to release the wagon from hitch. It worked well and never had one come undone.

I ended up buying and like the Bergman Speed Hitch.  Yes, they are pricey, but t feel they are good value for the money.
