BUsh Hog SM60R

I just bought a OLD back of the lot side flail mower with slideable beater. One of the rams had been using just one hydraulic line and I guess letting the weight of the beater provide down pressure-I guess. I am going to take out the vent plug and use two hydraulic lines. Is there any problem with this? I think they must have just been using it at level because of a stop that kept the mower from extending down which I need for ditch banks.

Should work. Some cylinders don't have seals to be pressurized from both sides. You may be able to just remove the stop and still use it the way you want.

Re: BUsh Hog SM60R

Thanks, feel a little better. This is turning into a real project- understand why it was on the back of the lot but fir just a day or two $1900 was all I coud afford. Need to replace all hoses going to the tractor. Might be ale to get by with the ones on the pto pump to the blade. I guess I should change the oil in the pump system but ouch..that is a big tank. Will definetely change that filter. Thaks a lot.

We have had 2 of these mowers the both reach down into the about 7' but that it the new great plains land pride ones with the double arms reach a lot farther.

Thanks, the more info I have is the better. Would you change oil in reservoir or wait to see if pump works?
