DEF FUEL ADDITIVE
I was wondering how the best way to store and transport the fuel additive to the field. Also what temp. does a freezing problem occur. I am putting a new service truck together and am going to have to start using it on this truck immediately and i talked to J. D. and they said they will require it in two yrs. Thanks in advance.

Re: DEF FUEL ADDITIVE
Deere will not use DEF until the T4 mandate which I believe starts in 2014. CNH & Agco will continue to use only SCR but will use a lot more DEF to meet T4 requirements. Deere will use both SGR & EGR which will reduce the amount of DEF needed.
To OP, DEF freezes at 11 degrees F.

Re: DEF FUEL ADDITIVE
Emission reg. is basically about reducing 2 things NOx & soot(PM) In a SCR system because of high combustion temp there is less PM but more NOx & DEF breaks down the NOx into water & Nitrogen. In EGR, a small amount of cooled exhaust is run back thru the engine to reduce combustion temp & thus reduce the amount of NOx created. Because of the lower temp the PM does not burn up so a filter is used to trap it in the exhaust. T4 requires a significant reduction in NOx, which Deere cannot achieve w/ out DEF.

Re: DEF FUEL ADDITIVE
and once a engine man. goes the scr def route like AGCO has years and go and now finally CASE IH has seen the light you can remove the egr off the motor still meet teir 4 emmisions get more power and better fuel efficenty,
how much def you use depends on what your doing harder you work it the more def you burn planting yeah 2 gal a day or less pull a big disk you could see it jump to 10 gal easy
every body is keeping it in mini bulk at there shops not that big of the deal all the pickups have to have it anyway
