Do's and Don't of Strip Till equipment

 Looking at maybe changing over my corn program to strip till. Don't want to make a big mistake on high price equipment in an area with no resale value.

I think  many farmers will be looking at strip till for next year, it looks fantastic this year and every year.  I`d say go to the Farm Progress Show and look at demonstrations and talk to people you meet there.  Maybe hire it done the first year to see how the custom operator`s machinery works on the ground you farm.

Strip till has been a no-brainer for us for 5 years straight here in eastern Iowa. We were really dry this summer and the few acres of tilled ground we have looks awful in comparison. We started with a few acres of custom work done for us and have grown to where we are now doing many custom acres for others who have seen the results. I’d recommend the same.
