F350 fuel gauge
What's the easiest way to troubleshoot the fuel gauge system on my F350 diesel?

Re: F350 fuel gauge
I would take it up to autozone, pepboys, napa, or another local car parts shop, and they should be able to hook it up to a scanner for you to check everything out. I believe it can test the fuel system and is free of charge as far as I know (at least at autozone)

Re: F350 fuel gauge
I pulled the fuel gauge and it's fuel logged, so I need to get a new float. I'm going to have to drop the tank to get it out. I'm also working on a problem that it seems to lose syphon when the tank i snot empty. Apparen tly there is a plug that sometimes comes out. So, a diesel fuel morning for me.

Re: F350 fuel gauge
It's one of those deals that isn't all that hard once you go through it once. I pulled the tank (not sure that was essential) and cleaned it out. Where did the gravel come from? Some as big as a knuckle? Put the new float on and determined that the syphon issue is OK. Hope this fixes it. I'll see later today, after I figure out why the wipers won't work (swapped the switch out and it's not the switch, I'm confident). Now I have to figure out how to get the wiper motor off.
When I was in town, I droped by the parts store to get one. One plug or two? Huh? Good grief. Come home to find out I have the one plug version, which had to be ordered. It's always another trip, another question. Nothing is simple. Next question, why won't the blower motor on my S10 run? Have to trouble shoot that next.

Re: F350 fuel gauge
Was there a motor resistor on that by chance? The old Dodge that I have goes through those resistors somewhat often on the blower motor, and luckily it's pretty easy to get to and cheap enough($15) to replace.
I had the same problem on a S10 blazer and it seemed to come back about every year. Sometimes it was the motor, and the other it was the switch, about 50/50. But, at least it was easy to get to unlike replacing a starter.
