Horsepower neede to pull planter

I have a Kinze 3650 12/24 with liquid and mostly plant no-till.  I have always pulled it with large tractor.8400 Deere.  Looking at adding another smaller tractor to the fleet to pull the planter.  Does anybody have an idea on what minimun size tractor needed to pull this planter?

Re: Horsepower neede to pull planter

Only thing I can tell you...is the guys that owned my 7120 Case/IH Magnum..pulled the same size planter on flatlands...with only 2 wheel drive. I'm pretty sure it doesn't turn over 160 on the PTO...

10 HP per row is a good rule of thumb.  FWA is nice in hilly fields.

Re: Horsepower neede to pull planter

I have a 2600 Kinzie 12/24 without liquid and do alot of no-till and pull it with a 150 hp 2-wheel drive.  I have never felt like I am out of power.  Not sure how much more hp would be needed for the liquid and it would also depend on how the ground lays.

Re: Horsepower neede to pull planter

Thanks for the help.  I am looking at a 7810 or 7820, somethig big enough to pull the planter yet small enough to put a loader on and use for some other chores

Re: Horsepower neede to pull planter

In my area with all the hills I would think a 7810 with FWA would work but nothing smaller
