Hydraulics on a JD 6430

This is for anyone with a John Deere 6430.  Do you or have you had problems with some of the hydraulic couplers?  They rest vertically. I have had great difficulty disconnecting the hose in the lower hole on No. 1  and the top one on No. 3.   No. 2 is fine.  I can hook up three of the four hoses on my Rhino blade...but, the last one (the lower hole on No. 1) will not go.  I guess John Deere has moved on from its hard-shifting quad-range transmissions to "ball busting" hydraulics requiring the strength of  "Superman".  Anyone have similar problems or do you have "Superman's" cell number?

Have you tried the old method of relieving pressure?  Turn tractor off, move hydraulic levers to release pressure, then hook up lines.  This may or may not work on that model of tractor.

I have a 6430 and hate it .  It is two years old and has been it the shop every fall and spring since I have had it and the warranty is out on it now and have spent $6k out of my pocket on it.  I have talked to JD about it and been all but told it my problem not theirs JD support used to be better than that.  It has had a fuel system replace, the air temp. {not coolant} would over heat when it was running over 2/3 rpm even down the highway, it had problems shaking when idling, pto stopped working thats what cost me the $6k and now when when it is warming up for about 10 minutes it knocks so bad it sounds like a piston is going to come through the side of the block.  I bought it to replace a almost 50 year old 3020 and don't have nowhere near the problem with the old 3020 as with the new 6430. I forgot the fan and fan shourd and the air pump in the seat have had to be replaced.  Stay away from these tractors they are junk!

I agree with jc217.  Place the SCV in float and shut off the tractor when making connect/disconnect of the hydraulic hoses.  If you have the big manual SCV lever controls you can shut off the tractor and move the lever to float in any particular order.  If you have the little electronic SCV controls (on the command arm console) you should place them in float first with the engine running and then shut off the engine.  That's because they need to be powered up to get into float.  I believe with the engine running (even with the control in float) there is about 200 psi of residual pressure on one side of the SCV and that will make things difficult.  I wish all SCV outlets were like the 8000 series with their pressure relieving features.
