JD 6715 Tractor

Looking at a John Deere 6715 tractor with Westendorf TA28 loader, MFD, and 1600 hours on it. Was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with these. If you could tell me the good, bad and the ugly on these tractors. Will be mainly used for loader work on our cattle operation but will be expected to pull a White 11 row interplant bean planter in the spring and disk mower in the summer.  Also this tractor doesn't have axles and we would like to put duals on it to plant with, anyone ever used the hub extensions from Unverferth? Here is a picture of what I'm thinking of using if I buy this tractor.

Re: JD 6715 Tractor

I have used clamp on duals on tractors up to 150 HP with no problems.  Used 6 clamps per wheel.   the space between the duals will fill up with mud in wet conditions since the tires are so close to each other but you probably shouldn't be in the fields then anyway.  I am also looking at a 66 or 6715 JD  for planting and baling.  Just not sure if it's heavy enough to off set the negative tongue weight of my 7240 JD split row planter, 11 row with 3 bushel boxes.

Did you buy the tractor?  If so, how do you like it?

Re: JD 6715 Tractor

A friend of mine has that style of dual extension on a 250 hp Deutz Fahr. Works well for him. Vern

Re: JD 6715 Tractor

Was that a 6715 or 6115 tractor you were asking about?

Re: JD 6715 Tractor

It was a 6715. Some other things came up and we didn't get it bought. Still looking.

I have been interested in the 6140D, 6130D, series as well. I think they would be more than good enough for what we want to use it for. Especially since its replaceing an old 806.

Re: JD 6715 Tractor

It is a 7000 series frame with 6000 series cab.

basically a cheaper version of the 7000 without all of the bells and whistles.

Re: JD 6715 Tractor

OK It must be like the 6115 6130 6140 series then.

Re: JD 6715 Tractor

You can get a power quad tranny in the 6715 and 6615. Would like to demo a 6140 and see what that 9 speed tranny is like....
