JD 7000 FLEX

Been trying to find a JD 7000 12 row that flexes as I farm in rolling hills and terraces. Only thing I've been able to find is a machine shopped planter that was made to flex in the middle. I assume if you did this to a planter you would have to change the transmission also since the shaft runs the length of the planter. Any suggestions?  Thanks for the input.

I don't know if John Deere made a 7000 12 row - center flex --- But I have a Johnn Deere 7200 12RN -- Center Flex  --- and it works great for my rolling ground and terraces

Have a JD 1770 12rn with dry fertilizer for sale maybe,  mint condition and looking to upgrade to 16rn with dry fertilizer.  We only plant 500 - 800 acres per year. Located in s.w. Ontario.

Is your 7200 center flex a two point mount and not a drawbar? I thought the outside 3 rows on each were what flexed on the 12 row 7200 and not flexing right in the middle. That would work great though for the fields I'm planting in.  Thanks for the info.

Jd 7200 flex fold planter has a horizontal hinge pin in the center, right above the master cylinder.  It also has a cam that makes the center rigid in the folded position fro road travel.  It only comes in the 2 point hitch as the tractor's hitch is an important part of raising the planter up high enough for road travel.  As it is, it does not raise high enough and will scrub on the road  when coming out of uneven driveways to the point it will remove the rubber rings from the closing wheels on the outside units.  When loaded it will be very heavy on the tractor.

This planter will be expensive to rebuild:  wiring harness hinge points, and parallel links are high wear items and sometimes hard to fix.  I would not own a 7200 vacuum planter; did, but spent considerable money to convert it to finger pickup as nothing was the same.  The cam that makes it rigid is not strong enough and leveling the planter from side to side is also difficult.

Look carefully.  A 7000 planter is much too old

MY 7200 center flex is a two point mount.

it flexes in the middle.

the outer 3 rows on each side fold foward + rest on pull frame when folded to transport position.

I shorten the 2 point hitch arms on my tractor to give it the highest lift possible - to clear obstacles going into + out of fields.

I pull it with a JD 4430 ever since I Purchased it.

I have owned it since the late 80's -- no major problems with it at all.

I keep center hinge + all pivot points well greased -- as of yet no major wear.

Mine is a vacuum type -- I am well pleased with how it operates in most all seed sizes.

a couple of my neighbors are real impressed with the accurate seed spacing I have!!

I have replaced the brushes in the seed chamber a couple of times -- other than that -

I have replaced the drive chains, the idler plastic bushings, insecticide metering rubbers and disc openers.

I have it set up for No-till - with the fluted leading coulter + Yetter row cleaners.

Again -- I am real happy with the way my 7200 12RN Vac. planter is performing for me.

I have been very happy with my 7200 flex Vac planter

it is the 2 point style

No major wear items - it is still a good tight machine

I have owned it for a number of years.

I am happy with it being a vac type - excellent seed spacing.

I keep all hinge point greased.

It works grat for my 15' based terraces + all my C + D slopes, contours + rolling ground.

The only 12 row flex planter that Deere built was the front fold flex that flexed in the middle and used the 2pt style hitch.  That planter was only offered the last year of 7000 production and used the same frame as the 7200 front fold flex.
