John Deere 6430 question

I'm considering buying a John Deere 6430. Wondering if it will pull our bush hog 8 shank chisel plow? Does anyone have any experence doing tillage with this tractor ?

Thanks for any info.

Re: John Deere 6430 question

A 6430 is a pretty light tractor for chisel plowing. At least it would be in my heavy clay.  Deere dealer told me a 6430 would be maxxed out pulling my 7240 11 row planter with it's negative tongue weight.  Again it depends on your ground and how deep and fast you want to go.  Here it would need to weighted down pretty good.  Front and rear.  Also, it would make a difference if you have hills.  All flat here so I didn't think of that before.

Re: John Deere 6430 question

I agree with nw...a 6430 is a light frame tractor. I think a 6430 is a very good tractor, just not for the kind of work you want it to do. You would have to really weight it down and even then it might not have enough power. I would recommend going to a 7000 series tractor.
