Perhaps it was a little flake or speck of something partially clogging a carb jet, and sitting for a while either allowed it to work loose, or dissolve. If you are really curious about this, you can drop the carb bowl, and see how clean it is. I have had good luck re-filling the carb with Sea Foam to dissolve varnish and gunk in the carb.
