I am trying to find a good record keeping program for machinery repair and maintenance, anyone have any suggestions.

TIA.

Re: Machinery records

I keep a small notebook in a drawer with all my operating manuals and write down whatever I do to every piece of equipment.

Re: Machinery records

Seems like Farmworks software has maintainance records built in it but I'm not positive.

Re: Machinery records

Yes, Farmworks software does have some machinery maintenance record capability.  However, I've never used that part of the program and  machinery is a very small part of the program.

Re: Machinery records

We have an old Doanes Record book that has heavy paper pages in it that we use to record service and maintenance work for all our farm equipment. There is a section for engine powered equipment and for field implements that we use to record packing wheel bearing or major repairs. Our book is over 25 years old and almost filled up so I have been looking around and believe one can still purchase the Doane record book separately. I believe my father got ours many years ago when he subscribed to Doanes grain marketing service. I like the fact that the pages are made with a much heavier grade of paper and can take more abuse and will allow for one to wipe off some spilled oil or grease off the pages without them tearing apart.

Re: Machinery records

Would something in the scrapbooking line of products work?  Dunno, just a thought.

Re: Machinery records

Not sure about the scrap booking idea as I have only limited experience with the products.  My worry would be that if your hands are a bit oily or greasy it could make a mess on the pages.  The Doanes book that we have uses much heavier paper that has a more durable finish that makes it is much easier to wipe off any grease or oil messes. .
