Precision Planting Components

Has anyone ever retrofitted a 1200 series CIH planter with components from Precision Planting?  I'm not sure the cost but I'm sure it's darned expensive.  I'm curious what the V-set meters and V-drive options would be.  I'm betting it'll be north of $500 per row.

Re: Precision Planting Components

You mean 500 each for the meters and drives? Stopped by their booth at Louisville. I may be interested in a program they have where you "lease" a monitor. They said $500 per year for three years for monitor and hardware. I guess it would allow you to upgrade every three years without having to trade in a old monitor.

Yes Buckfarmer, that is exactly what I'm saying.  I haven't checked yet so I'm only guessing, but I bet to update an 8 row planter with the above mentioned components and also the 20/20 seedsense monitor it'll be nearly $6000 and wouldn't be surprised if that wouldn't cover it.

Re: Precision Planting Components

Don't you have to install DJ compatible sensors and run sensor wiring 'home run' style (each sensor wire back to the smart connector) or can the 20/20 talk to the caseih set up now?  I like the 20/20 on my kinze for catching problems, but I try to not drink as much of the koolaid as in the past (it's not a cure all for farming).

I see 1200 planters getting more affordable all the time and a central fill looking better every year I get older.  I understand the issue is that I'd be stuck with the pro600 which seems to be clunky (so I'm told) and maybe a little too much complexity for what needs to be done.  I'm I wrong on this?
