Question from reader on tractor bounce

David Duistermars from Orange City, Iowa, sent a letter to Successful Farming looking for some help with his tractor. His message is below. If you have some helpful advice, please post it below so I can send it to him. Thanks!

"I have a John Deere 8300 tractor that rides rough. I don't go over 2,000 RPM on the road because it bounces so much. I've adjusted air pressure in tires and shifted the weights, but nothing helps. I heard more John Deere 8300s have had trouble. I also heard a different brand of tires has helped. I was wondering if more farmers have had trouble with this tractor."

Morning Jessie ! Yes I had the same problem with a JD 4960 front wheel ass.  Same thing ! could not sit in it going down the road - if the tractor sat for a few days - it was worse ! the tires - my guess is that they flat spoted - I finnally would just gas it up and would drive threw the hop - at fullspeed it would settle down . I did notice that the older the tire's got - it got worse in time  . I put on some new skins last fall and it's like a new tractor - NO hop .

I thinking is as the tires got older the side walls started to get soft and then lead to the flat spotting , Anyway - thats my 2 cents worth . lol
