UTV Advice?
We are looking to upgrade from an ATV to a UTV to help us work around the farm. We've never owned one before so does anyone have suggestions or advice? What kinds of questions should I be asking when I go to the dealership? Anything will help! Thanks!

Re: UTV Advice?
all have UTV sections, where you can read about strengths, weaknesses, and quirks on most makes of UTVs.
The one thing, I will mention is safety. I know a couple people who have them, and they all agree, you want one that has a strap, or door, to keep your legs inside, in case it tips over. It seems, people often tray to 'catch' it with their leg, like an ATV that is starting to tip, but the UTV is heavy enough, they wind up with a broken leg. Better to let it tip, climb out, and upright it.
Other than that, before you buy, have figured out what kind of uses you will have for it before you get to the dealer. If you want to carry large loads or putter behind cattle, you willl not want the same machine as someone who wants to strap a toolbox in back, and run from field to field, doing machinery maintanence. Also, think about speed. My cousin has a Polaris Razr, and that thing will hit about 70 MPH, which seems crazy fast, but on the other hand, it is geared high enough, you can go 45-50 down the road all day with it, while other machines have the engine screaming at that speed.

Re: UTV Advice?
If I could give you some advice, we started out with a Yamaha Rhino (if you want a smooth, quiet ride that is tough, this aint it), then a Kubota (Not bad, will take a beating but is heavy and the diesel engine was a bit noisy, nothing unexpected though), and a Polaris Ranger 900 HD. We've had the XP also, both are good rigs and had very few problems that were actually with the 4 wheeler, most of it was our fault (pulling out pivots, changing pivot tires, etc). Looking at a Can Am, but really like the Polaris.

Re: UTV Advice?
What kinds of things did you look for before buying each of those machines? And what made you pick a Polaris in the end? I have heard good things about Polaris Rangers, but have not owned anything else to compare it to, so I have no idea what is important to know or ask about before I buy. And advice on this front?
