Wanted- older IH row crop cultivator
Hey guys,
I am looking for a IH 153 or 163 cultivator.
4,6, or 8 row, 38'' with solid shanks.
I am willing to do some cutting and moving to make one work, I need to end up with at least a 4 row.
Thanks,
Jared

Re: Wanted- older IH row crop cultivator
I have a couple 8-30 front mount cultivators. Biggest problem would be transporting. I'm in SE Illinois. Normal transport width is about 16 ft. I forget how narrow we could make them.

Re: Wanted- older IH row crop cultivator
Mike,
What model are your cultivators, will they fit a 1066?
Do they have solid shanks?
Thanks,
Jared

Re: Wanted- older IH row crop cultivator
Yes to both, I thought I had some photos .. actually I KNOW I do I just can't find them. Attached is a photo of our 12 row, which is similar but has been modified to use Danish tines instead of being rigid. I'll try and remember to get some photos Friday if I get the chance.

Re: Wanted- older IH row crop cultivator
Here are a few photos. Too bad you weren't at Paris, Illinois Saturday. Thy sold a couple 12/30 hydraulic fold ... I think for $500 or less. I suspect at least one will show up at Groff's auction the 26th (http://www.auctionzip.com/Listings/1095516.html)
Here is both 8 rows from the left rear
Both from right rear
The cultivator slips into this mount and 2 bolts hold it in place.
2 turnbuckles swing around and attach to the side plate. In the field the frames swing around and a pin goes through the arm to hold it in place.
So, did this help any?

I just realized I edited and inserted the photos instead of making a new reply, so the thread didn't bounce to the top.

Re: Wanted- older IH row crop cultivator
Thanks Mike,
Do you know how much you want for them? I may be interested in both.
Also I got to thinking, do you think I could try to do some creative welding and extend the tool bars to make it a wide row? I was thinking maybe I could splice it with angle iron on the in side.
Anyone else have any ideas.
Thanks,
Jared
