Your Magnum-MX 240, 255, 270 experiences--need an update

Found a two yr old post asking the same questions I have.  What are things to watch for? Looking at a 255.  Have electronics improved with newer ones?  (engine, 3 pt hitch, and trans--don't care about GPS and steering)  Transmissions holding up, shifting properly, etc.?  I think the 255 is in the 2nd generation of MX's.  Would appreciate any info.  Thanks.

Re: Your Magnum-MX 240, 255, 270 experiences--need an update

We have a 215 and a 335.  A 2008 and a 2010.  Both have the same general platform, except engine and a few trans differences (axle shaft size).  Both have about 1200 hrs.  The 215 has been chipped since new and produces over 275hp.  The only problem we have had is that the 215 needed new tie rod ends this spring.  We surmise this is because we are running 500 gal of 28% out front and also duals.  Otherwise we love the tractors.  The 215 is our planter tractor and also runs the auger cart in the fall.  The 335 pulls a 12 row strip till rig in the spring, a 60' nh3 bar for side dress, and a 7 shank ripper with an air cart behind it in the fall.  No other problems to report.

We have a late model 240 and have had a lot of little issues with it. Nothing major, but, enough little things that I wouldn't buy another.  The 255 is the same electronics.  My mechanic tells me to go to a 245.  Much more reliable electronics and they haven't had any problems with the ones that they have out.

Ended up with a 255.  All seems OK so far, except performance monitor stuck (buttons wouldn't change readout) after the lights were on for awhile on two nights.  Worked fine the next morning.  I guess turning it off and on resets it but I'm still wondering what happens.  Thanks for the replies.
