american farmer height compared to firestone
I am going with a firestone 750 x 20 tire on one end of my grain drill that has an american farmer 750 x 20 on the other end. Will there be a height difference between the two that will cause problems? The tires are about twelve feet apart, one at each end.

Craig unfortuneatly there are no set standards for agricultural use tire each company can have different dimensions for the same labeled size tire. My best suggestion is to see if you can find info on the American Farmer tire and compare that to the specs. of the Firestone. I have to admit I am not familiar with that brand. Good Luck

Craig-I had this discussion with a fella who ran a trucking company, and he said all tires are different and a good year tire is different in size to a firestone or a japanese tire alleged to be the same size.
He indicated that most people (even truckers) believe replacing a tire of the "alleged same size" solves a problem, what they do not realize is that because of the different brand tire (which is a different size), the other tires wear out faster.
So according to him, when tires are put on a semi tractor or other over the road vehicle, they should all be replaced with the same brand.
It sounded right to me. But WTF do I know. Adios Amigo. John

Re: american farmer height compared to firestone
craignd : here's what you do , have them mount up a american farmer then either take a stagger tape ( if you have a freind that races , he will have one ) or a string and measure the circumference , if you use the string then just mark it and then use a regular tape and see what it measures , then jack up the F-Stone and check it and see how close they are , if there close then maybe just make a pressure ajustment then good to go .
If it's way off then I would put in at least 2 rounds of wedge in the smaller tire .
Hope this helps .

Re: american farmer height compared to firestone
I put the american farmer on new last spring when a tire failed during seeding and decided to replace the other one, a goodyear, during the off season. Takes most of a day to change the tire after I remove the harrows on the back of the drill and some shanks for the openers and remove the axle and a bearing and sprocket on each end that are rusted solid. It has one sprocket that drives the grain box and another that drives a rod weeder. The tires are pretty much tucked away inside the frame and shanks of the drill. I guess I didn't notice a problem with running the old goodyear and new american farmer. I'm shying away from the american farmer since I read a lot of complaints about their short life.

Re: american farmer height compared to firestone
Iwas in the farm tire business for 30 years, my experience was that Goodyears were always smaller than any other brand.
