furrow clearer replacement suggestions?
We purchased one of the first rotary furrow cleaners when they were introduced a fair number of years ago. We have been happy with it for the most part but unfortunately the day has come for getting a replacement. Many of the models we see are the disc type that just throw the dirt to the side and this leaves a pile of dirt beside the furrow that makes it harder for water to get into the furrow and leaves a dirt pile that makes combining at the furrow more difficult to say the least. On top of that we have very hard clay soils that are extremely hard on rotary furrow cleaners. We have not found a version that looks capable of doing a good job and will stand up to the punishment it will take. What are your suggestions/experiences? I am sure we are not the only ones dealing with this. Thanks for any input.

Re: furrow clearer replacement suggestions?
I'm not familiar with the terminology. Is this what we'd call a row cleaner, disks that go ahead of the planting unit to move trash from the furrow?

Re: furrow clearer replacement suggestions?
Sorry. I did not see that I typed clearer instead of cleaner although the description is still accurate. We need to put in furrows after planting to carry excess water off the fields.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm not familiar with that practice and am afraid of I'm of no help. Good luck in your search.
