mini size no till planter
Does anyone make a no till planter or drill that would be appropriate size and cost for developing countries? I'm talking farm size odf 10-15 acres tops. Interested in rotating vegetables, cover crops, possibly some grain or forage crops in a year round growing season climate. Little captial available, but lots of labor. Would really like to work the cover crop/mulch/notill aspect .Any thoughts on equipment would be appreciated. TIA

Re: mini size no till planter
Esch Manufacturing makes a 7.5' no till drill for Amish in our area. Pulled by teams of 4 horses or mules. I believe they even make a 5' model. Pequea Planter makes a 2 row no till planter again for the Amish in our area.

Re: mini size no till planter
Great Plains / Land Pride has no-till drills down to 6 feet and 'min-till' drills down to 5 feet.

Sidehill, is this in PA or Ohio? Where are these companies located? I grew up close to Amish country, but they were not no tilling then. That may be a viable solution.

Re: mini size no till planter
You looking for lowest cost of an all new machine, or are you willing to build your own?
I assume you will be pulling it with a small tractor.
I might consider looking for a 4-row planter, with a straight frame, good carriage, etc, and putting late-model row units on it, suitable for no-till.
Around here, you can get something like a White 5000 for under $1000, with the frame and blower in nice condition.
Swap in 8000 series row units, furrow openers, and even add weights if you want/need to, if you need more weight to penetrate.
I suggest a White, because by changing seed disks, you can plant corn, sorghum, soybeans, sunflowers, and even odd seeds like pumpkins, just by using the proper seed disk. If you want to go smaller, you can always just put on 2 row units, and narrow the toolbar and markers (if you even need markers on something that narrow).

Re: mini size no till planter
I don't have a suggestion, but if researching this I would start wtih Japanese and other Asian country web sites. They have a lot of machinery and small plots.
Maybe Kubota or one of the Indian tractor companies might be a place to start. Good luck.
Could also try some of the ag universities in that part of the world, but I don' t have any suggestions for you there.

Re: mini size no till planter
Thanks everybody for the suggestions. I grew up and still have family close to Lancaster Co. PA. Think I'll look up a couple of these places next time I'm back there.
