Re: what is the good & bad of JD mulch finishers?
We have a 2310 w/ a spike tooth harrow & rolling basket. We have used it for 2 years now & are very happy w/ it. We previously had a 726 & it was also a good machine but it had a coil tine harrow & it did not level or break up clods as well as we would like. The 2310 is built heavier & a nice feature it has is that you don't have to grease the main rockshafts. We use it on both bean ground & fall disc ripped corn ground & it handles the trash very well. After 2 years I really don't have anything bad to say about it.

I had a Jd Mulch Finisher for a very short time. It worked well in soil without stones. If you have rocks in your fields I wouldnt use it.

Re: what is the good & bad of JD mulch finishers?
I have never used a deere finisher, probably a good machine. Look at a sunflower, we use one, very heavy built machine. We run it on bean groung, shallow and about 7 m.p.h. also run in standing stalks, and chopped stalk's. It realy works better in standing stalks as they are fast to the ground. This is in the spring, ahead of the planter. The only drawback is we have a rolling basket just brhind the disk and if you have alot of grass it will sometimes plug if it is damp, dry no problem. We run a 25 ft. with i60 h.p. tractor. Handles it well. john
