13 corn vs beans
I just checked local prices and corn is $6.16 and beans are $13.28. Beans aren't really bying any acres at that price.

Re: 13 corn vs beans
Lots of beans will be planted here. Two years in a row, of bad dryland corn yields, last year was sub-par, this year was a disaster, and that will drag down insurance guarantees.
Last year, dryland beans were outyielding dryland corn on a BPA basis, and it looks like they will be doing it again this year.
As for the pivots, it all depends on harvest. I have heard stories of stalk rot, fungus and the like, in the COC acres that could possibly spell problems in terms of lodging, ear drop, etc. The corn after beans, does not seem to have that problem. Next year would mark the 3rd year in a row for corn, on a bunch of acres, if beans are not planted.

Re: 13 corn vs beans
I'm still adjusting some rotations, but by and large, my cropping plans won't change for '13.

Giolucas
Not sure why you think 9 cents is a drive of any type
It's more like a small trading range considering the daily limits these days.
Not even volitile. my guess anyway.
Best of luck.

Re: 13 corn vs beans
giolucas, the grains just have to rebalance from time to time. wheat's been leading a couple days now, corn was mucho oversold, beans a little overbought. I bought corn @ 773^2, wheat 899^2 Thur night, but liquidated too soon.
looking for beans to complete a leading diagonal Mon (5th & shortist impulse leg) - then few days of #2 corrective phase from 1770-1775, as you said, down to 1720-1715.
I read a guy - name's John Needam. A while back he saw U.S. $ going to 55 or so for an ultimate low - maybe next summer - that'd sure make our exports attractive, support prices.
thanks,
c-x-1

Re: 13 corn vs beans
With any weather issues in South America (they are getting dry in Brazil as we speak), I would suspect Nov '13 beans will start to gain on Dec '12 corn.
