live in SC Nebraska... don't know of anyone bragging about the looks of the corn here... looks ok from the road but once in the field there is some pollination issues and ear size seems to be smaller than last year.. large amounts of hail in the area and some wind snap so I personally am discounting us making up for the loses in Kansas, which are substantial  .. welcome to the crap shoot !

About 10% of that, will go thru the corn head. When dries it will be like popcorn kernels.

I follow the threads on these sites and I will be very surprised if we see middle to low 140's or less

yield when dust settles. Iowa at 177 and Ill. at 170? I live in c Ia. and the hot weather took 50 bu. off

the top if not more. Tip back, poor pollination, two to three weeks delay in planting. (pollinated in hot weather).

There was a lot of ground worked wet. I'm 65 and I have NEVER raised a good crop by working the

ground wet unless it keeps raining, did that once, replanted it.

CPS is walking many a fields and they say we are going to be very disappointed. They told me

a few seed corn fields will not be harvested because of green snap and poor pollination.

I will sale every acre of corn I have for the state average off 177. I live west of Ames

I have raised corn like your picture shows. You will be surprised, but not in a positive way.

I live in Central Nebraska, and don't expect me to make up much yield loss from elsewhere.  I live almost dead center of the state, West of us got good rain, but more heat, until you go to the Western end of the state, where they got the heat, but not the rain.   East got less heat, but less rain, until you go far enough East, to be where they had enough rain, and less heat than us.  Right here we had enough rain to keep the dryland hanging on, and night before last, we had 1.5" of rain, the most in 24 hours we got since we were trying to plant.  Our irrigated looks to be somewhere between 5 year average, and trendline.  If it weren't for the cooler weather right now, I'd just put us at 'average' but good weather from here on out might get us to trendline.  One thing I wonder about are the pivot irrigated fields.  The 145 acres under the pivots look good, but the 15 acres in the corners looks somewhere between really bad, and toast.  Drove to Grand Island last Sunday (I am a little West of straight North of there) and in the Scotia area I saw a couple pivot corners, and dryland fields where you could see the ground through the corn.  One field had a little knob in it, and on that knob, the corn was not just dead, but brown, and falling over.  The lower ground may have a little potential left, but not much. 
How big an area where the dryland is gone I don't know, but I do know there is a LOT of irrigated corn planted this year, the dryland acres seemed to go to soybeans, or a hay crop such as alfalfa.  With a lot less irrigated alfalfa, the price of that has come way up from last year, too.

Hi Fellas. I also enjoy your posts.  There is going to be a lot of 80 bpa corn in here NEIN.  I hope a lot of you can make that 220-240 bpa mark to get us to the 150 ave.  It isn't going to happen here.   We have a lot of ears that look just like the ones you posted here.  There have been a few isolated spots in NEIN that did get some really nice rains and their crops look good.  However, that is not the average.  Our place only recd .4 in of rain in the entire month of July.  We did get another 1-1/4 in last weekend in several small showers.  I've been checking my beans and haven't noticed any dropped pods yet but I will be looking for them now that some of you have seen them.  Good luck to all and have a safe harvest.

On an individual basis I hope things work out for you.  That said after listening to non stop complaints the last three or four years of the impending doom of the U.S corn crop on this site only later to have it turn out to be the second, third, fourth, or largest crop in history, well I take it all with a very large grain of salt.  Way to much stuff you normally shove in a barn has been thrown around the last number of years to believe any of it until you see it.

Dont count on Minnesota for anything above average. crops look good but was wet when planted, the low spots drowned out, hot during poll.  now getting real dry to finish us off here. i dont see a bin buster  here  in south eastern minnesota.

It would be nice to hear from somebody with good crops... it can't all be bad.

Central Ohio really doesn't look too bad after a terrible start at planting.  I would project near average for this area.

I guess good growing conditions aren't much of a headline.

We are south of Princeton, IL and corn looks good from road, but is lacking inside.  Short, thin ears with small kernels.  My rep sent out letter to customers that he expects to use 120,000 kernels per bushel instead of 90,000  in population count.  Looks pretty sad.

Well I will tell you we have excellent crops here, even some awesome crops, I am in Dawson county nebraska.  I see there are other central nebraska farmers that say it is isnt good.  I can't say where they live, but yes, we had some green snap, and yes there are areas with hail.  But obviously there is hail here every year.   i personally didn't have a pollination issue, so I can't speak to that.    I went to Lincoln last weekend, stopped and snooped here and there, crop looked pretty good to me, better color than normal.   however, since i haven't been to every corner of the state I won't venture a guess as to even my state avg.    As for beans, look good, better than my corn.  Guess we will see...  either way it will be a good year.

Went out into the field next to my place with my grandfather and tried to guess the yield. Some spots in the field we had to search about five stalks before we could find a harvestable ear. He estimated the field would yield between 70 and 80 bpa. That field normally yields between 120 and 130 bpa and sometimes better than that. The corn on my ground looks pretty bad but slightly better than the field next to my place.... I would be a happy guy to hit 100 bpa but I just don't see it happening.
