Re: 158 years ago today, at this hour
All wars are stupid and wasteful but the justice of the cause is the difference.
It is the saddest thing to contemplate those Confederate soldiers- who were mostly illiterate, malnourished conscripts who would be hung by the Home Guards if they attempted to desert- dying for a terrible cause that they had no stake in.
In fact they were victims of the "peculiar institution" as well.
"....... (a cause that was) one of the worst for which a people has ever fought."

Re: 158 years ago today, at this hour
My ancestors fought on the side of the Union (that and $4 gets you a cup of coffee) but after +150 yrs there`s no appreciation for their sacrifice during hard times without the war. And what did it "solve"? the laws are enforced and cities burn and this administration favors sending out taxpayer funded checks to a whole lot of ungrateful people. Can`t even have a peaceful Independence Day celebration without the revisionists pilfering that too for their other 364 days of their celebrations. If a war lasts over 150 years, it isn`t unreasonable to start asking questions.

Re: 158 years ago today, at this hour
When a intelligent person is stupid, it`s like a turtle atop a fencepost, you can bet he didn`t get up there on his own. I`m convinced China pays trolls...perhaps domestic country boys to give it the "John Prine feel" go into chat groups and disrupt.
Like in the 1980s "farm crisis" some socialistic groups tried to convert down on their luck farmers, like the NFO in the 1930s and 1950s. A communist these days makes everything about race, they just see how dumb everyone is.

Another thing that seems to correlate to his mass postings is when ever there is a little bad press about his beloved liberal leaders he does this.
It's as if he thinks he can distract us awsy from their current bad behaviour.

Re: 158 years ago today, at this hour
No other entry by sd points out how his reason for being here is to be destructive, divisive, and will slide quickly into name calling.........A real patriot who would not fight for anything. No other entry by sd shows this as well as this one.
It as usual starts out with a lie..... and this time ends with another one.
His later entry here also begins with an outright lie. -- "All wars are stupid and wasteful but the justice of the cause is the difference". Follows that with personal attacks on southern soldiers ...... then a bigger lie. Victimization ....
Denegrate their education and social standing then through the ultimate liberal judgement on them as a class..."victims of the "peculiar institution"". When in fact they were defending something they believed in.
The Civil war has little to do with this holiday but SD sees the opportunity to use it against those he hates.... at least half of the population of the United States. He may very well hate the other half as well.....
The Civil War Was the result of Congress not doing its job. Congress had 50+ years of debate and opportunity to resolve the conflict and failed to do its job..... resulting in rebellion and arms moving against Congress and the leadership in DC.
The institution of Congress and whatever building the elected representatives meet in are the property of the American People, not just the elite who buy their way into voting seats on the wings of corporate donations, in the disguise of public servants, yet remain totally self serving.
Just as exemplified by the civil war, when congress chooses to avoid their representative responsibilities or disenfranchise large voting blocks, or seek to choose to limit the powers of the representatives of those voting blocks, citizens have every right to protest and retake their lost positions, especially within and on their property.
The civil war largely represented the lack of action on the part of congress. The January 6 protest(or rebellion if you choose) was different because it was a reaction to the actions of Congress to disenfranchise and nullify their elected representation in government. IMO every person who is proud of this form of government should support those who protested and not fall victim to the folks like SD who have nothing better to offer society in the world. After all technology offers us 5+ years of clearly recorded actions by congress to nullify the trump election. SD is only here to keep scratching off the scab in hopes the government of the US will die of the infection he hopes to infect it with.
It is our choice do we support our democracy or not?
