Re: 2012 Yield Monitor

No whining guys, in Randolph Co Missouri (north central) there has been plenty of corn chopped for silage.  Many fields were estimated at 1.2-1.5 bu per acre.  Yes, that's less than 2 bu/a.  I've seen large parts of fields in the Jacksonville area that were completely dead by early August, the corn had never made it to tasseling before it died.  One large operator I know had to shell a 125+ acre that was not insured and it made 12 bu/a.  The dust coming from the dead plants was black and had the combine sooted up, reminds me of the southern corn leaf blight in 1971.

Re: 2012 Yield Monitor

anthonykreifels,

Thanks for posting your yield. I hear the flood-irrigated crops did better, this year, than other irrigation systems? Is that correct? Why? I've also heard that for some guys, no amount of water would have helped, due to soil problems?

Re: 2012 Yield Monitor

First field of beans 44.5 over the scale on 50 APH ground,  Next 20 bpa  on 40 APH ground.

No corn across the scale but 100 bpa off the monitor on 145 APH ground,  This is some pretty sandy ground for us.  Moister from 30%  to 10%.  Haven't poked into any of our "Good Ground" yet.    Hearing some others talk of 100 bpa to 200 bpa corn around us. But we are just getting started.

Re: 2012 Yield Monitor

Yes Mike the math works out well with 52 bushel @ $16.10 per bushel.  That would be record dollars per acre for a soybean crop for this farmer. That is a mighty big bird in the hand to pass up.
