Re: 3 Days-in-row Ka
Central Iowa is where a lot of corn will be planted in the next five days. I know that many of you are very wet just now in Iowa but here, our total April rain fall is at 5.48". Some of you have had twice that. The shallow tiles are running, the deep tiles are dripping.
There was no ponding with the April rains. As far as temps, they are forecast to climb into the 60's, and 70's. You just maybe right that our little "dryer sweet spot" in central IA.
is an aberration, but will take it. If I knew how to plant a pic on here I would do it.

Re: 3 Days-in-row Ka
Wind,
We will see a planter roll tomorrow here locally. Blowing out the cobwebs and playing---------- and you know what that will lead to------- all out competition. It's not too wet to plant here. 🙂
19 degrees------ 65 degrees---- tomorrow 70 degrees and a planter rolling. That is the craziness that is the southern high plains.
And naturally, we won't have that pesky rainfall to contend with..... 🙂
You are exactly right, wind. In our neck of the woods---------(less the woods). The 3000 ft elevation line runs through the wifes back yard. And the humidity has been below 12% most of the last two years. In those conditions there is not much to keep the temps and wind from running up and down like a yoyo.
Old guys used to say "There's nothin' for protection between Canada and Amarillo, Texas except a three strand barbed wire fence------ and it's down in three places".
