$7.00 corn next year

I think this guys head is in the clouds on this one. It seems like the more natural disasters the higher the yields end up.

Re: $7.00 corn next year

$7.00 corn does sound far fetched now.  To me the takeaway is  not to get caught up in all the gloom and doom.  There is only one way to go when your at the bottom, right?  So yes, run a tight ship, cut costs where you can, but  I'm not vin a big hurry to lock in prices for 2016 crop.

Re: $7.00 corn next year

Corn has to hit the marks of 4, 5, and 6 before it hits 7 bucks.  We have had a string of near record crops and I just can't see how that can continue.  I too will store this crop a long time for better prices.

1974 and 1988 where very hot and dry years around here.  My 1974 corn yield was half of my 2015 corn yield but the price of corn was worth more then than it is now!!

Record crops continue as long as USDA says they continue.

Similiar to the Frackers, as long as more people continue to farm and produce the prices will remain low.  Facts are facts.  Worldwide production (of all grains) up almost 60% since 2006/2007.  Population growth worldwide is about 1% per year.

Re: $7.00 corn next year

We're still losing thousands of acres of farmland every year to development.........More people farming less acres?  Alrighty then.  This doesn't necessarily translate into more bushels.

Interesting timimng on this report.  Isnt now when many farmers usually make decisions for next years crop mix, along with purchasing inputs?  Maybe trying to loosen the ol' checkbook?  Or am I too cynical?

Nothing is gonna loosen the checkbook if there's nothing in it to begin with.   Smiley Wink
