A Marketing Meet-up

Agriculture.com would like to find out who is interested in attending a marketing meet-up this fall. While we host a group of Brazilian reporters, we thought it would be fun to gather some Marketing Talk folks for an exchange of information between U.S. farmers and the Brazilians. If there is enough interest, we will horse-collar some market experts and we can all sit and figure out this next year's marketing plan. 

The timeframe is October 10th or 11th. The basic idea is to take the Brazilian group onto some farms that are harvesting corn and/or soybeans for half a day, in some area of the Midwest. That would be followed by a gathering of Marketing Talk folks, maybe a dinner, and keep the event open for discussion on all things marketing and Brazil ag production.

What we would like to know, does anybody want to raise their hand in support of this idea? And if you had a choice, where would you like to see this event held in the Midwest?

Is Chicago a location for this?

It could be Chicago, IL, or Woden, Iowa, or Omaha, Nebraska, or any point in between. I would like to see where folks are interested in gathering and then set up a 'meet-up' in that area. That's why I'm throwing it out there to folks to raise a hand or two. Who would like to gather and talk risk management strategy and hear what the latest report is out of South America?

I would think these guys traveling from Brazil would be interested in seeing the CBOT

They have seen the CBOT. They are interested in a tour that looks at crops and harvest activity. We just wanted to spice it up a bit with a marketing meet-up, as long as we're in the area. So, we're looking for some hands to go up, regarding where follks would be interested in having an event like this. Anybody find this idea tickling their tummy?

Great idea and I would love to attend.  Question is where will there be harvest activity in 3 weeks?  At the pace things are moving crops will be out in this area of SCMN and fall tillage will be a long ways towards complete.

I'll come.  I'd prefer it to be in Iowa, weatern Illinois, northern Missouri or southeast Minnesota.  OK, southwest WI, too.  That way, I'd be away from home for no more than one overnight.

Have it near me!  Get a tour from Kinze Manufacturing  in Williamsburg, IA and the Monsanto (formerly Holdens) seed corn farms near there, then meeting and dinner in the Amanas.  It's on I-80.  Nearest commercial airport is Cedar Rapids.  Wives could join us or drop off for shopping or sightseeing in Cedar Rapids or Amana.  

Amana farms will probably be harvesting then.
