Re: A Marketing Meet-up
Harvest here in 3 weeks but my place will not qualify as it belongs to a "Hoarder".
Becides that South Podunk country is NOT someplace to take Brazilian news writers to. After all mid '90's combine, 6 row, this place is more of a museum than a farm.
As an example one of these weekends I'll do an off topic thing about the 1860's ----- ------- that is on display here at my farm.

Re: A Marketing Meet-up
jweiser1925,
You bring up a nice location suggestion, in relation to ADM. That would certainly be a nice tie-in for marketing talk and a tour. Keep the suggestions coming. Also, what would help is if we can get a lot of people leaning one way. That would help make the decision.

Re: A Marketing Meet-up
Jim Meade/Iowa City,
You make a great case. Anybody else see Jim's itinerary appealing? So, what about the Iowa City area and a Kinze tour and market meet-up with area folks?

Re: A Marketing Meet-up
p-oed Farmer,
It may not be the most ideal time. But, with enough interest I think we could make it an interesting meet-up with all of the interest in the market regarding Brazil's production. We can get a first-hand look at what the Brazilian farmers are thinking, planning, planting, selling, etc. for this next year.

Re: A Marketing Meet-up
Mike,
We talked about this last year. I think you need to "build it and they will come" just pick a spot in the middle and go for it. They only downside is the short notice. Oct 10-11 is not much time for logistics.

Re: A Marketing Meet-up
Since transportation is the big issue in Brazil, you may want to drive by a river facility on route 80 if you head to Iowa. If you go south to Decatur, there are a couple rail facilities along route 55 near Dwight and Pontiac. Both are set up to handle 100 car trains. Also, there are rail terminals that load containers with soybeans near Joliet. There won't be many crops left near Decatur by October. It was a sad looking place in July.
