1812
This date was the latest blossoming of apple trees in New Haven, Connecticut for the period from 1794 to present. Snow whitened the ground in Cleveland, Ohio and Rochester, New York.

1903
An F4 tornado struck Gainesville and New Holland, Georgia. The death toll was 98 and 180 were injured. Damage was set at $1 million.

1971
8 inches of snow fell at Rainier Park Ranger Station in Washington (elevation 5427 feet). This ended up as the final snowfall of the 1970-71 winter season and brought the seasonal snowfall total to 1027 inches to set a new record for the U.S. Despite this huge amount of snow, even more fell in the 1971- 72 season.

1980
A man from Falmouth, Maine was struck by lightning, restoring his eyesight. The man had been blind and partially deaf since since a truck accident in 1971.

1984
In Massachusetts, the Connecticut River reached its highest level since the hurricane flood of September 1938. -At Apalachicola, Florida the temperature tumbled to 48 degrees, breaking the old record of 61 degrees set in 1966. 48 degrees is an all-time low for the month of June for Apalachicola.

1986
Severe thunderstorms produced a rather large amount of hail for the northeastern U.S. across central and northern New England. Hailstones up to 4 inches in diameter fell in Cumberland County in Maine. Hail accumulated to a depth of 6 inches at Naples, Maine.

1990
A violent (F4) tornado hit Bakersville Valley in west Texas. The tornado killed 2 people and injured 21. It also removed 300 feet of blacktop asphalt from a paved road and rolled two 90 ton oil tanks a distance of 3 miles and put them 600 feet up the side of a mountain. Total damage was 35 million dollars.

Corpus Christi, Texas was drenched with 11.47 inches of rain in 24 hours for its all-time 24 hour rainfall record.

Wife had to get up for "work" @ 3am and I'm not smart enough to go back to bed, BUT that is about to change.She just called and got there OK.
BTW glad you are the one squeezing the cows, I retired from that 41 years ago. But I still like milk and milk products.
Just thought some on here need to be reminded the weather has been erractic since records have been kept.

Hobby, Absolutely right. Now we just get the info and pictures in real time 24/7 and then TV people commentate on it 24/7.
Then those in the weather industry or the climate change industry raise "awareness" to make their fortunes.
