No yield reports cause nobody can get in the field. They seem pretty good... But

I am now thinking that some people will have beans out before winter and that little to any corn will be coming off. I am further behind than last year and last year I got next to no corn off. We bought another combine. Was a big forecast of no rain but it rains just enough now and more is coming

My yield today...

4 1/2 hrs just get a row unit off the corn head, got an index finger scuffed up as a bonus point.

Went out to the bean field and got the 700 bu auger wagon full before the cutter bar broke.

Hope I can get the bean head going tomorrow.

not much help becAUse all over the place. whole field averages from 212 down to 110 and everything in between. The field that made 110 made well over 200 in 2012. too much rAIN IN JUNE. darn cap lock key......

Well CX - I finished up beans Thursday - They s u c ked - compareing them to other reports - Over all close to 53 bpa - just to many days of wet feet - best dirt was worse cutting - short - thin stands - I have talked to other in the area - well they called me - asking what I was seeing - theres was the same - yes they are better than the 47 something the USDA is saying is out there - BUT .

Corn --- outstanding !  I said earlier this season there was no way this crop was as good as last years- well I still don't think that the stands are near as good - But throw in the summer we had and by golly - its there - I had replanted spots in the fields - watched the monitor fall and stay at 200 bpa -- on replant ??? but it happened - worse field - came in at 206 so far - highest - 233 - and would guess that will be the high - I have the N- plot for Purdue to shell yet and that will be a little lower due to some of the lower N rates .

Over all IN corn is vewry good - 188 good ? Just maybe !

Congrats Ken...it is seldom Ind farmers have great beans and corn in the same year...its a weather thing.

Overall though, I think USDA is probably low on IN corn yields, not one farmer I know that actually weighs things, is coming in under 200 across the whole state (well there is a 2 county area around Wabash but I don't have any numbers for that area). Very unlikely IN yield goes down, same on beans.

On the beans it is all about drainage it seems to us. Only 2 fields under average (58) and they little tile, nothing else under 65 so far, but we still have 40% of the beans to cut. The end of harvest is still a long way away. Only able to run 6 hours a day as the seed for Becks is mandatory to be under 14%, and then there is no wind, so the dew shuts us down at dusk. Pretty unusual, but kind of as expected after so much rain in early October.

As harvest grinds on, now is the time to think about safety everyone.

I'm reporting on milo, not corn.

Worst so far was 65 BPA
Best so far was 116 BPA

No surprise with either of those, in fact I haven't really had a shock or surprise this fall harvest. I'm harvesting my last field now, and with decent luck I should be completely done in a couple days. My monitor went out of my combine so I'm doing the unthinkable and running without it. I'm guessing the yield is right at 100, maybe just a touch better but that could be wishful thinking.

Wrapped up bean harvest last evening as the sun was setting.  Sunsets are prettier from the combine cab.

Had to wait a couple weeks for the replants to get dry enough to go.

Haven't run the last truckload over the scale but I know we'll average low 30's.

Too wet early, county ditch flooded in June and had to replant about 1/4 of the acres 4th of July weekend.

Dry in August and a full moon "variable" frost in September. (SCMN)

Moisture in corn varies from 18% in lower ground to 24% on the hills.

Letting it dry in the field so not enough out yet to know final yield average. 

It won't be pretty for the same reasons.

Beans a little disappointing at 62 after SDS took the top end off. Corn pretty darn good at 241, 45 bpa over aph. We were in the garden spot with nearly perfect weather all summer. Best crop growing weather I have seen in my 45 years of farming.

Western MN - Corn is running 160-170 - it is quite a bit better than I thought it was going to be.  I was thinking 130-150 before we got rolling.
