Didn't have any frost but Central Kansas was 43 while NW Kansas was 36.  Stay tuned, that was with overcast skies.  We're told it will be clear skies tonight with colder temps and scattered frost. We'll see and report back tomorrow.

VR - you, my friend, are looking at what you want to see.   Tonight, where my farm was in Central WI:

Friday Night 10% Precip.

A few clouds. Low 33F. Winds light and variable.

Already last night there were frost advisories out.  And for tonight in Cannon Falls, MN:

Friday Night 20% Precip.

Partly cloudy skies. Low around 35F. Winds light and variable.

And there were frost advisories out this morning when I looked at the Cannon Falls weather too, but they expired at 8 am this morning.  Rhinlander, WI tied the record last night for the lowest temperature recorded there - set in 1946 - at 29 degrees. Tell them that there was no damage done.  But this is freeze - frost is different, and can occur - again - at temps as high as 42.  All you need is the dew point to drop below freezing, and frost and plant damage can happen.

You need to realize there is too much of everything a little frosted won't hurt to balance sheet too much when you have too many. The areas you quoted are not huge corn bean producing areas so it doesn't affect the outcome. In 2004 we had a frost in august here in mn and North Dakota and South Dakota. The market kept dropping because the damage was cosmetic. For real damage you need to be below 28 degrees for three hours. Soggy soils tend to hold heat and cloud cover like you stated hold heat.
