Re: Any frost reports from this am?
I'm not sure where buck is 'cause we watch the weather out of the cities and lows from 34-30 were very common. The beans in north iowa range from maybe half yellow to all green. It seems odd , but the beans that were turning the most show the most frost damage. Maybe they didn't hold the heat in the canopy like the greener ones. Some of the greenest ones look like they are just "nipped". Some of the outsides of the corn fields look frosted, but i suspect that is just the outside rows.
Back before header reversers and when i was a champion foxtail grower, a frost wAS soemtimes welcome. It sure doesn't do me any good now. It sure as heck does not help corn dry down. As far as the beans, we'll see. I'm sure it didn't do those very top and last formed pods any good. Nice breze today and seems like the more frosted beans are dropping some leaves. I hope some other north iowa guys will give their thoughts.
