Re: Are we having fun yet...........up to 7.5
Hello, Shaggy, enjoy your posts. Still planting here, while most have their corn in and up. I farm all my land within a mile of Lake Michigan, some right on the high banks area. It turns 40 in the late afternoon almost everyday in the summer. Some summers we never get 90 degrees. So, for the soil to dry out without tillage has been a problem. I plant late and use 89 day corn. Have hit up to 160 bu on the good land. Now you run a lot of acres, I don't, the dairy farmers grab everything for manure.

Funny you should mention Lake Trout. At this time of the year they like to lie on the sandbars several hundred feet off the shore, maybe 8 to 20 feet of water. You can row out to them, but they will not bite. Just sunning themself, in the warm surface waters before heading back out to 100 -150 feet of depth.

Farmer46,
I have a friend who is a live wire and can handle most anything. He told me that fishing on lake Michigan from your side is one of the worst beatings he has ever taken ------------------ got caught in rough water.
I get a big kick out of him because within minutes he will be telling you he can't wait to go back and try again.
